The Proud Educator (PE) Institute brings together LGBTQ+ educators, students, and allies committed to building just, inclusive, and thriving schools. It offers a rare space for queer and trans educators to connect, learn, and imagine new possibilities for education.

This year’s Institute features George M. Johnson, award-winning author of All Boys Aren’t Blue and We Are Not Broken. Johnson will share insights from their work at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and education.

Highlights include:

  • A keynote address by George M. Johnson
  • Workshops on storytelling, restorative practices, embodied movement, and strategies for sustaining LGBTQ+ educators in today’s political climate
  • Opportunities for networking, mentorship, and collaboration across generations of educators
  • Space to build community with others navigating the challenges and joys of teaching while LGBTQ+.

The PE Institute is co-sponsored by the the ¿ÉÀÖÊÓÆµ LGBTQ+ Resource Center, ¿ÉÀÖÊÓÆµ School of Education, and Center for LGBTQ Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center.
