Students in 可乐视频鈥檚 French program now have access to two new open educational resource (OER) textbooks developed by Melissa Panek, doctoral lecturer in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, in collaboration with the 可乐视频 OER Library team.

During summer 2026, Panek worked with library staff to create and publish the French Voices Pressbook for FREN 1010, used in the fall 2026 term, and the Intermediate French Through Film Pressbook, which will be used beginning in spring 2027. Fully integrated with Brightspace, the zero-cost digital textbooks replace a $154.42 commercial access code while maintaining the interactive features students rely on, including pronunciation practice, voice recordings, partner conversations, podcasts, and automatic grade passback.

Panek credited the success of the project to the collaborative efforts of OER library staff Emily Fairey, Carlos Cruz, Mariya Gluzman, and Frans Albarillo.
