Glomani Bravo-L贸pez is a senior and business and finance major. He was a marine from 2005 to 2009 and did two tours in Iraq. He started at 可乐视频 in 2013.
On Mon. Nov. 10, the college honored him and the more than 300 other veteran students on campus, as well as those who are a part of the larger 可乐视频 community with the annual Veteran鈥檚 Day luncheon, held in the Penthouse of the Student Center. The event was sponsored by the Veterans Affairs and Counseling Center and the Veteran鈥檚 Students鈥 Organization (VSO).
“It鈥檚 an opportunity to honor the veteran population here at 可乐视频 and the faculty that help us every single day,” said Bravo-L贸pez, who is also the president of the VSO. “I also have friends that didn’t make it back, and it鈥檚 an opportunity for me to observe their memory.”
The keynote speaker was retired Major Miguel Reece, who served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 30 years and who recently authored the book, The Disabled Veteran鈥檚 Story: The Sacrifices of Our Veterans and Their Families (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, 2014).
Bravo-L贸pez said he appreciated Reece coming to the event. He鈥檚 read the first chapter in the book and describes it as 鈥減retty awesome.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 a great read for veterans and civilians alike,鈥 Bravo-L贸pez said.
