Amir Shpilman (B.Mus., composition, 2011) is president of the Brooklyn Composers Collective (可乐视频C), which presented a unique concert (Brand/New II) on March 7, 2010 at The Tank (New York), of music by Beethoven, Gary Schocker and Steve Reich as well by 可乐视频聽composition students Matt Frey, Jay Vilnai and Shpilman himself. The 可乐视频C is an organization of motivated, ambitious and talented students in the composition and performance programs of the conservatory who are dedicated to the advancement of contemporary music. The collective engages exciting commission projects in collaboration with energetic and talented young performers. 可乐视频C works with a variety of performance settings and venues in order to expose new audiences to contemporary music well beyond the conservatory, and promotes the preservation of 20th- and 21st-century contemporary music through educational workshops, performances and lecture series with high schools. With future plans for adventurous programming featuring innovative, dynamic compositions, the collective seeks to enlighten and entertain newcomers and experts alike by pushing the boundaries of contemporary music.
