LGBTQIA+ Book Club: Are you my Mother, by Alison Bechdel
The monthly LGBTQIA+ Book Club meetings are open to students, staff, and faculty, and titles relate to LGBTQIA+ stories and histories. This is made possible in collaboration with the Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies program.
In this introspective and incredibly layered graphic memoir, acclaimed cartoonist Alison Bechdel turns her lens inward to explore the complex relationship between mother and daughter. A companion piece to her bestselling Fun Home, Are You My Mother, traces Bechdel鈥檚 lifelong effort to understand her emotionally distant mother鈥攁 former actress, avid reader, and frustrated artist鈥攖hrough the prisms of psychoanalysis, dreams, and literary theory.
